I believe this effort to be pivotal in bringing OPEC out of the major anti-trust/price fixing situation it is now dictating to the world. If major oil markets can easily switch to alternative fuels when oil prices are too high, everyone but OPEC wins.

This is not to say that all forms of energy shouldn't be developed. They should. But unless our government ever has the political will to segregate the US oil market from world prices, "Drill Baby Drill" will have minimal effect on permanently rolling back OPEC's monopoly. Zubrin's book Energy Victory masterfully explains how Brazil accomplished this strategy back in the 80's and how they are still energy secure. I believe this strategy to be as sound as they come. Let's do it! Kelly Cook, National Field Director, ACT! for America

I represent clients that have numerous patented processes that can process corn before it is used to make ETHANOL. It produces the 4 main Human Consumable food commodities and then uses the starches left over for making Ethanol. Carbon foot print for ethanol plants is reduced 30% and ethanol is increased 20% from the same corn and all the Human Food Commodities from corn are available for the US and International Market.

"Free market" objectors to this bill need to put national security and sovereignty above money. I'm all for "Drill baby drill," and think generally we need to let market forces operate on economic matters. But on issues of national security, they simply do not operate fast enough or sufficiently. On this matter, some things must be imposed.

Absolutely! If we drilled ALL our own oil, OPEC would still control the PRICE of oil, and therefore would still have the ability to cause worldwide recessions.

But drilling our own oil improves our trade balance and generates American jobs, so it solves two big problems.

But it doesn't solve three other big problems — the price of fuel, the vulnerability to OPEC's whims, and the unbounded wealth making its way from our wallets to radical Muslims.

The two solutions together help solve them all, and they ALL need to be solved.
