Believe it or not, Europe's cars will soon be powered by Icelandic geothermal energy! Carbon Recycling International, an Icelandic firm, has been using geothermal energy to convert the CO2 in flue gases to methanol and is now shipping that methanol to Europe for blending with gasoline instead of ethanol. If the OFS was law, the US would become a viable market for "Vulcanol" (the trade name for Icelandic renewable methanol) as well as for renewable methanol generated from domestic feedstocks.
